this is a nice value study. It looks like you have a strong light to the left and another light in the front maybe? part of the confusion comes from the viewer's left leg having dark shadow on the right, but the right leg having very little shadow, then the front arm has highlights on the left and right, and the face has no shadow.
I would suggest using one key light (the strongest highlights, and shadows, then any areas that you think are too dark can be the middle tones instead (aka the fill light) then having a backlight that highlights the shoulders and hair.
